The Department of Education is issuing a notice inviting applications for new awards for fiscal year (FY) 2018 for Educational Technology, Media, and Materials for Individuals with Disabilities—Center on Technology Systems in Local Educational Agencies, Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA).
Over 40 years of research and experience have demonstrated the benefits of assistive technology (AT) and instructional technology (IT) for the education and development of children with disabilities. With the increased use of appropriate AT and IT, more children with disabilities will have access to the general education curriculum and be prepared to meet standards for academic success. Which is why the Educational Technology, Media, and Materials for Individuals with Disabilities Program aims to:
(1) Improve results for students with disabilities by promoting the development, demonstration, and use of technology;
(2) support educational activities designed to be of educational value in the classroom for students with disabilities;
(3) provide support for captioning and video description that is appropriate for use in the classroom; and
(4) provide accessible educational materials to students with disabilities in a timely manner.
