The U.S. Department of Education, Institute of Education Science’s (IES) new leader, Mark Schneider took the helm recently after Senate confirmation. Dr. Schneider’s confirmation is welcomed by CEC and the education research community as the position has been vacant for four years. IES is the nation’s leading source for rigorous, independent education research, evaluation and statistics.
Schneider, was most recently a vice president, an Institute Fellow and president of College Measures at the American Institutes for Research. He served as commissioner of the IES National Center for Education Statistics from 2005 to 2008.
CEC looks forward to collaborating with Dr. Schneider and the National Center for Special Education Research (NCSER) to advance its mission of supporting a comprehensive program of education research designed to expand knowledge and understanding of infants, toddlers, and children with disabilities and those at risk for disabilities.
