It’s that time of year again.
Yes, it’s spring and flowers are beginning to bloom but in Washington, March/April is when the Appropriations – federal funding – process kicks into high gear.
Between federal, state, and local budget cuts, education budgets have been squeezed thin across the nation. We know that 83% of special educators have already reported budget cuts impacting special education services.
That’s why CEC has been working with leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate to increase funding for special and gifted education programs.
Right now, a bi-partisan group of lawmakers in the House & Senate (yes, you read that correctly!) are urging their colleagues to join their effort in supporting an increased funding for IDEA and the Javits Gifted and Talented Program.
Now’s the time to urge your Congressional delegation to support a greater investment in special & gifted education. CEC’s Legislative Action Center makes contacting Congress easy and fast.
Click here to urge your Senators and Representative to support IDEA funding; and here to advocate for Javits funding. (Try to add a personal story, lawmakers want to know how these issues impact you!)
