On September 20th, the U.S. Department of
a grant of $200,000 to Southern University
in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to conduct research on ways support African-Americans
with disabilities transition into society successfully.
Southern University will use the awarded money to fund Project Work Opportunity through Resource and Capacity Building (WORC). The project will help the University develop and validate a service delivery model that will enhance the way African-American’s with emotional, intellectual, and behavioral disabilities integrate into their community.
The National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, part of the U.S. Department of Education, awarded this grant along with others under its Minority Serving Institution Field Initiated Projects.
