And for CEC advocates, it’s time to go to work!
Your mission is simple: schedule meetings with your elected officials at their district office anytime from now until Congress reconvenes September 9th. With Congress expected to take action on education funding and ESEA reauthorization, now is the time to meet with your Congressional delegation!
To assist you, CEC has put together a Congressional Recess Packet containing all the information you need to help in setting and holding your meetings (see attached):
- Logistical help to answer those basic, but important questions (i.e. how do I contact my Representative?;
- Issue Briefs about ESEA reauthorization and special/gifted funding – CEC’s two focus areas this August;
- CEC’s Public Policy Agenda to highlight the other issues we are working to advance; and
- 4 Step Action Plan to guide you and provide additional resources.
Please let us know if we can be of any help! And, let us know if you are able to schedule a meeting and how it goes!
Thank you for all you do on behalf of children and youth with exceptionalities and their families!
