The first, presented by the Office of Special Education Projects through the Educational Technology, Media and Materials for Individuals with Disabilities program, offers awards for projects that improve results for individuals with disabilities by promoting the development and use of technology, provides support for video captioning and description for use in the classroom and provide accessible materials to students with disabilities in a timely manner. The second award, presented by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research through the Disability and Rehabilitation and Research Programs and Centers, is to support Minority-Serving Institution Advanced Rehabilitation Research Training Projects. The purpose of the competition is to improve the capacity of minority entities to develop and support disability and rehabilitation research training opportunities.
