This U.S. Department of Education’s
Office of Special Education Programs has announced two grant programs aimed at
alleviating the persistent personnel shortages that have plagued special
education, early intervention, and related services for decades.
These grants, both titled Personnel Development to Improve Services and Results for Children with Disabilities, have different focus areas – one focuses on special education personnel and the other focuses on leadership. Grant details and applications are available for both grants by clicking here and here. Deadlines for applications are in March.
CEC – together with many in th education and disability community – continues to support policy solutions to addressing the national shortage of special educators and related service personnel. As a co-chair of the National Coalition on Personnel Shortages in Special Education and Related Services, CEC works with 30 other national organizations to address this issue. Visit the Coalition website for resources and more information: www.specialedshortages.org
This is a great idea to help schools suffering from lack of teachers. Hopefully this helps those schools not just in getting teachers but also with collaboration between teachers.
