I currently have a student who will turn 3 in two months. He has recieved Early Intervention services for about the last 16 months. He was first referred because his mom was concerned that he fell down a lot. We discovered and solved a slight problem with his feet and a relatively severe problem with his eyesight, the combination of which was causing him to fall. When we first met he was also not communicating, other than crying, at all. Additionally, he refused to eat any solid foods. We helped him to tolerate solids within a month and he now eats the same foods that the rest of his family enjoys. Talking took a little longer, but he is now using 4-5 word sentences, making his wants and needs clear through his language. Along the way we were able to help his family learn how to manage his frustration regarding communication as well as typical two year old behavior issues.
He has not yet been tested for the public schools, but I do not expect him to qualify for services. He is truly an Early Intervention Success Story.
