Federal Education Funding: Overview of K-12 and Early Childhood Education

In the federal government’s effort to ensure the U.S. has a well-educated and skilled workforce to compete in the global marketplace, several studies have been conducted.  The United States Government Accountability Office (USGAO) conducted a study on Federal Education Funding – Overview of K-12 and Early Childhood Education Programs.  The following questions are answered in the study: What is the federal expenditure on K-12 and early childhood education programs? – What are the characteristics of these programs? – To what extent have these programs completed evaluations?
Included in the study are special education grants to the states through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Federal funding can be a sticky issue but we need federal funding to continue to increase so more resources can be added to our school system, especially in areas where there is a high drop out rate.

It seems to me that education is receiving more and more budget cuts every year and our school and students are suffering. Its nice to see the breakdown of funding, and where the money is being spent, but does it really seem fair? Our school is loosing more and more teachers every year, causing out classrooms to be over crowded and teachers leading to burnout. I wonder when law makers are gonna give education a break, and give the teachers and schools the money they need and deserve.
